Taxi Fares

Bristol City Council sets the fares for hackney carriages. These fares apply to journeys done within the boundaries of the council so meter must be used to charge the final cost of the journey.

Journeys which go outside the boundaries of the council are not regulated by the Bristol City Council. Trips to outside Bristol City boundaries are supposed to be negotiated and agreed on before a journey is made. Generally, drivers charge 25% more on top of the meter price.

Private hires jobs are however unregulated by Bristol City council and therefore vary from one private hire company to another.
